About TDWG
Are you looking to get involved in biodiversity data standards at the global level? Do you want to make a difference in advancing the state of biodiversity informatics? Biodiversity Information Standards (TDWG) is a not-for-profit, scientific and educational association formed to establish international collaboration among the creators, managers and users of biodiversity information and to promote the wider and more effective dissemination and sharing of knowledge about the world’s heritage of biological organisms.
The TDWG Executive committee seeks individuals interested in a leadership role within the organization. The Executive Committee represents global diversity across geographic regions, gender, and professional expertise. Please consider joining the enthusiastic team that leads Biodiversity Information Standards (TDWG) by standing for election to the Executive Committee.
About the positions
The positions open for the 2027-2028 term are:
- Secretary
- Treasurer
- Chair of the Subcommittee on
- Regional Representative from
- Asia
- Latin America
- North America
The terms begin January 2027 and will run through the calendar year of 2028.
Follow the links above to learn about the responsibilities of each officer. In addition to fulfilling the role of the office, every officer is expected to dedicate two hours each month to participate in the Executive Committee’s bi-monthly conference calls.
Additional hours will be required to fulfill the responsibilities and obligations of each role; the amount of time will vary depending upon the role and the task at hand. If you would like more information about any of these roles, please feel free to reach out to any of the current officers.
How to apply
To submit a nomination(including self-nominations), please send a statement of background and vision to the TDWG Secretary (secretary@tdwg.org ) by Friday, November 13th 2026 PST (UTC-8). You are welcome to review the background and vision statements from current Executive Committee members.
Election process
Ballots will be emailed to current members shortly after nominations close, and the ballots will be due by December, 21st 2026 PST (UTC-8). We will announce the results of the election as soon as all ballots have been counted and confirmed.
