Getting around Oslo

Public transport

Ruter operates public transport in Oslo, including metro, bus, tram, train, and ferry services.

  • Use Ruter# journey planner to plan and move around Oslo.
  • Ruter route maps show metro, bus, tram, and ferry networks.
  • Tickets can be bought in the Ruter app, at Oslo S, from Ruter customer service, or from selected kiosks such as Joker and Narvesen.
  • Most recommended Oslo excursions are in Zone 1. Travel from Oslo Airport to the city centre is Zone 4N.

Important: Non-Norwegian residents should not create a profile in the app. For these cases you MUST take a screenshot of the ticket, that will be the only proof that you purchased it.
