Transport To and From Fremantle

Perth airport is about 17km from the center of Perth and about 30km from Fremantle. You can take a taxi ($40-50) or a bus  from the airport to Fremantle. While it is cheaper to take a bus or taxi from the airport to Perth and then take a train to Fremantle, the more direct approach is less hassle.

Car Rentals

All the usual suspects are in Perth; AVIS, Budget, Europecar, Thrifty, Hertz and many local companies such as Bayswater and M2000 (which are usually better deals). For a smallish car big enough for two, expect to pay between $25-50/day.

Trains and Buses

Perth has a great train service, as long as you are traveling north-south.  There is a good train service between Fremantle and Perth. The trains runs about every 10 minutes between 0530 and 2400, and the journey takes 30 minutes and costs $3.40.

Where the trains don't go, buses generally do.
