Accommodation
Fremantle is a city-suburb of Perth with a population of ~26,000 people. Most local accommodation will be within easy walking distance of the meeting, restaurants and shops. A free shuttle bus also covers most of the Fremantle area.
There is a range of accommodation, but not a a huge amount in any category so it would be wise to find something that suits you and book it early! Here are some options-
Hotels
The Esplanade Hotel
The Esplanade Hotel is a 4.5 star hotel and is the largest hotel in Fremantle. We have been able to get discounted rates for the conference (under "Biodiversity of Information Standards 2008") of AUS$195/night for single/ twin/ double occupancy and AUS$215 for a studio room.
Rosie O'Gradys
Rosie's is an Irish Pub with Hotel accommodation in the middle of Fremantle at a cost of ~$100 / room / night.
Apartments - Single or Shared
Serviced Shared Apartments are some of the best options for quality, reasonably-priced accommodation around Fremantle. Each apartment comprises two or three bedrooms with common lounge, bathroom and sometimes kitchen facilities.
NOTE: As shared houses and apartments are a good option, we have set up a Wiki at http://wiki.tdwg.org/twiki/bin/view/Conferences/SharedAccommodation to help you find others who would like to take this option. Nearly all of the houses and apartments noted below are 2-5 bedrooms.
We have looked for a range of apartments that are close to the conference venue and are good value. While we cannot book them for you, we encourage delegates to indicate if they are looking for someone to share with.
