TDWG 2007 Registration

This page contains important information regarding the registration process, costs and special arrangements. Please read the entire page carefully before proceeding with registration.

Individual Member Registration

Individual members who have already paid membership fees for 2007 at our website at www.tdwg.org are entitled to discount registration rates. If that is your case, visit your TDWG account page to get your discount code and enter it in the appropriate field during registration.

If you wish to become a TDWG member, or are an existing member needing to pay fees for 2007 in order to qualify for registration discount, you can pay the fees during registration by choosing the appropriate option.

Institutional Member Registration

Institutional members are represented by a named contact who maintains their TDWG account and has access to the discount code (see above), allowing a maximum of three member registrations. If you are registering as a delegate from an Institutional member you MUST get the discount code from your named contact BEFORE starting the registration process. It is the responsibility of the named contact to allocate the three registration slots.

If your Institution wishes to become a TDWG member, or is an existing member needing to pay fees for 2007 in order to qualify for registration discount, the named contact can pay the fees during their own registration by choosing the appropriate option. Once this is done, other delegates from the same institution can register at the discount rate after obtaining the discount code from their named contact.

If the named contact does not wish to attend the conference then he/she must pay the institution's membership fees (on the main TDWG site) before other delegates from the same institution can register and obtain the discount rate.

See more details at the Student Registration page.

Delegates from countries where there are particular problems with travel funding for scientists may apply by e-mail for special status as an Invited Delegate. Applications must be sent as soon as possible to the Conference Committee at lee(at)tdwg.org with Subject line "TDWG 2007 Invited Delegate". Such delegates will be expected to provide evidence of employment at their home institute and a signed letter of support from at least one external referree acceptable to the Executive. Application does not guarantee special status. Each application will be scrutinised by the Executive and the applicant contacted to discuss support. If successful, a special Registration code for discounted registration at the student rate will be supplied.

Funding Support

The Taxonomic Databases Working Group does not generally have funds available to support the attendance of delegates.

Letter of Invitation

We are able to consider providing a Letter of Invitation with the sole aim of assisting prospective delegates with their own applications for funding from external sources. Applications for this Letter should be addressed to the Conference Secretariat using the form below giving an outline of your reason for wishing to attend the Conference and the relevance of your work to the main themes of the Conference. Applications without this outline will not be considered.

To avoid fraudulant and bogus applications, all applicants will be required to provide the following, by fax to the Conference Secretariat (you will be sent the fax number by e-mail):

  • A signed letter from a senior figure (Director, Head of Department, Professor) in the applicant's home institution or educational establishment confirming the applicant's employment or academic status.
  • A signed letter of recommendation from an external referee acceptable to the TDWG Executive (this could be a TDWG Group Convener or a member of the Executive, or a respected scientist known to us).

Please allow two weeks after faxing the supporting documents for receipt of the Letter which will be sent by e-mail in PDF format to the address you provide. Note: To avoid the Late Registration fee please submit your application before 1 August and complete your registration as soon as you receive the Letter.

Certificate of Attendance

Delegates who attend the Conference and complete the Registration process at the venue are entitled to a Certificate of Attendance. Applications for this Certificate should be addressed to the Conference Secretariat in person at the Conference or by e-mail within 30 days of the close of the Conference. Please allow two weeks for receipt of the Certificate which will be sent by e-mail in PDF format to the address you provide.
