How to Gain Consensus

  1. Use the blog to encourage consensus by fostering online discussion among Interest and Task group members.
  2. Consensus is usually a compromise and as a result it is difficult to please everyone.
  3. Communicate a clear vision of the direction to the group.
  4. Regularly evaluate the goal and the group's position in relation to it (e.g. Run out in front and point "This way"!)
  5. Always be open to new ideas as tangents may end up leading the way ahead.
  6. Encourage the opinions of quieter members as they may be uncomfortable supporting the current paradigm or raising doubts.
  7. Listen to and voice your feelings with a disruptive member (if the behavior continues, talk with them one-on-one at the first opportunity).
