These guides were written by Richard Pyle, Kevin Richards and myself to help system administrators avoid common pitfalls in setting up their own LSID authorities. We hope that they will be useful to those interested in assigning LSIDs to their biodiversity information data records.

This set of guides is composed of-

1. a document describing the part of the process that is independent of the platform or programming language used to set up the authority; and
2. three platform specific guides describing the specific parts of the process for Java, Perl and .NET programming environments.
